The Science
the science behind raw feeding
At Proudi, we believe in feeding cats and dogs the way nature intended – raw, fresh and biologically appropriate.
Raw feeding is backed by science and based on the evolutionary needs of our pets. It’s the natural diet they’d be consuming if they were still living in the wild today.

Born Carnivores
Dogs and cats are built to thrive on a meat-based diet.
Cats are obligate carnivores, which means meat is essential to their survival.
Dogs are facultative carnivores; while they can derive nutrients from small amounts of plant matter, they do best on a meat-first diet.
What is Prey Model Raw?
The Prey Model Raw (PMR) approach mimics the composition of a whole prey animal - muscle meat, bones, and organs - with no added grains, fruits or vegetables. It’s a feeding philosophy based on the belief that pets thrive on a diet that reflects what their ancestors would have eaten in the wild.
Proudi is inspired by this model, which is why each recipe contains 97% muscle meat, offal and freeze-dried bone powder – and no plant-based fillers or unnecessary extras.
However, preparing a PMR diet yourself at home can come with risks. DIY raw diets may be deficient in essential nutrients if specific ingredients aren’t included in the right proportions.

The science behind Proudi
That’s where Proudi comes in. We combine the natural philosophy of PMR with nutritional science to deliver the best of both worlds: a biologically appropriate diet that is also complete, balanced and safe.
Our recipes are developed by our in-house pet nutrition experts and an independent registered nutritionist. Every ingredient is carefully selected, measured and analysed at the molecular level to ensure each recipe delivers all the essential nutrients your pet needs to thrive - at every stage of life.
We strictly follow AAFCO, FEDIAF, and Australian standards for animal nutrition, ensuring every recipe not only meets but exceeds the requirements for complete and balanced nutrition.
